the amazing race

Monday, November 12th, 2007

Some of you might not know that laura and I are big fans of the amazing race.   For the past few years we have been participating in a “fantasy” amazing race.   It is loads of fun and adds a little extra fun to the show.  Gives you a reason to jump up and down for certain people to win.  Anyway, although it’s two episodes into season 12, it’s not too late to join in on the fun.  Here’s the link: amazingracers.com.

foosball tour 2007

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007

So some of you may recall that back in July of 2005 Laura and I stomped the competition at the Borgia family reunion Foosball Tournament.  If you weren’t aware of our victory or just forgot, here’s a photo to refresh your memory:

the triumphant winners

Well, the other night I was on my way back from a haircut and heard on the radio about a foosball tournament where you could go on to compete for $1,000.

foosball tour 2007

So naturally I called my buddy and he agreed that we could not pass up the opportunity to be there.  We felt very out of place hanging out at a bar, but the spirit of foosball gave us encouragement.  We got a little nervous though as we noticed some other 40+ year old guys showing unusual amounts of interest in the table.  We quickly realized these guys were the real thing…actual foosball players.  We smoked our first two competitors, but just barely lost to one of the “old timer” teams.  The problem was that each game was just 5 minutes, which didn’t give us enough time to come back.  Final score was 3 to 4.  Dang 5 minutes!!!

The pinnacle of the evening was when this one competitor busts out handle grips.  You know you’re in trouble when some 50 year old man pulls foosball grips from his pocket.  These guys came to win…and they did.  We’re thinking about trying again next week at another location.
