Virginia

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

We drove to Virginia for Memorial weekend to see our good friends, the Geyers.  We had such a fabulous time and wish we could have stayed longer!  I can’t even believe it has been a year since Nate graduated and everyone moved away.  Of course, Kellie didn’t tell me she was having problems with this pregnancy until after we got there.  Hopefully we took it easy enough for her…and hopefully she wasn’t too annoyed with my bossing her around to have a seat or quit lifting!

We have been to Virginia several times, but this was our first time in the Richmond area.  The drive was absolutely beautiful the entire way there.  I wish we would have had the time to stop and enjoy some of the scenery on the way.

Nate went to work with Jake on Saturday and had so much fun assisting him and seeing how his practice is operated.  Kellie and I had lots of fun with the kids and met back up with the boys in the evening.  We treated ourselves to banana splits every night after the kids went to bed and just had a great time!  Thank you so much for having us!!

Stuff

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

I’ve pretty much been on a blogging hiatus since Christmas when things got extremely busy with school.  Now that I am done, I vow to be a more frequent poster.  And on that note, I vow to do more blog-worthy activities!  There’s no point in trying to catch up with all that I’ve already missed, but here are a few pictures of stuff:

Magei is totally dedicated to her violin.  I have no idea why she was practicing sans pants, but I walked in on this one day.

We painted and tiled the mud area of our house…it’s the part that comes in off the garage and leads out to our deck or downstairs to the basement.  We used the same tile that we put in our kitchen, but unfortunately I matched the grout wrong.  Oh well…it still looks good and probably no one will ever notice.

Magei had a birthday party for her stuffed friends.  She dressed them all up and at this point is making the invitations.  This was at 6:00 in the morning…

 We remodeled the bathroom.

We had a pretty crazy talent show for FHE one night.  Magei was in charge of costumes, so she dressed Sam up as Jasmin.  I don’t think Nate and I have laughed that hard in quite a while.  Here they are singing the Popcorn song.

Wondering what Nate and I did for our talents?  I did a reading…seriously.  I need to develop some talents!  Nate did cartoon drawings.

And here they are with the grand finale, Tomorrow.

And there it is…a bit of our random life over the past few months.

Master Mom

The day finally came.

Magei said she is going to call me Master mom from now on.  I’m cool with that.  Nate is trying to convince her that she needs to call him Dr. dad.  We all said no.

This was seriously a grueling process, but I’m so happy to have done it.  I’m very thankful to Nate, Magei, and Sam for their support and sacrifices so I could do this.  Besides Nate, I think Magei was my biggest cheerleader.  There were so many times she wanted to hang out with me and I had homework…she was so understanding!  But we were both counting down to graduation day.  Also, a big thanks to friends for cheering me on, watching my kids so I could study, and just acting interested when you probably weren’t!

My cheering section…can you believe these guys came!?!  Seriously…it meant a lot.

So, now what?  Lots of people have asked me if I’m going to try to get a job.  No.  I’ll still be the cheif executive officer of this house, only with a Master’s degree to back me up.  Sadly, I don’t think that gives me any extra clout with the kids.  I’m going to see if I can remember any of the stuff I used to do for fun before going back to school.  I used to have hobbies, right?  And maybe I’ll read Twilight.  I hear there are a few people out there who like it.
