Life’s a Beach at Alum Creek

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

We’re making summer last as long as possible around here!  I love Alum Creek.  I hate what it does to bathing suits.

Disgusting, Right? And a Tiny Bit Scary.

We found this guy hanging out on our window one evening.  That is Nate’s hand, and he might not want you all to know this, but he was uber nervous to get this close.  He has a bug thing…and now, he has a giant size moth thing.

OSU v. USC

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

OK.  So it was a heartbreaker that I won’t discuss here.  What I will say is that we had a super fun time tailgating on Saturday before the game.  And can I add that it is so awesome that we have a garage pass now.  (Sorry, Beazers! so. very. sorry.)  I suppose that is one good thing about residency!

the thurmanator

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Well, this is probably my second post in the life of our blog.  Perhaps in a few years I’ll post another.

A bunch of us from school decided to head on over to the Thurman Cafe for lunch yesterday.  Being the idiot that I am that prides himself in eating massive amounts of food, I decided to tackle the THURMANATOR.  This burger has two 3/4lb burgers, about a 1 inch stack of ham, bacon, tomatoes, lettuces, grilled onions, american and provolone chees, peppers, and probably some other things…and it comes with a pile of fries.  Adam, host of Man vs. Food, came to the Thurman Cafe when he toured Columbus.

Here’s some pictures that tell the tale:

All of our food (can you guess which is mine)
all of the guys

Me and the Thurmanator
the thurmanator and me

This thing was so tall, I had to eat it in two parts
had to take it in halves

I first polished off the burger (I figured that after the burger, the mental battle is over)
last bite of burger

Taking the last bite (I ain’t lookin’ too good here)
last bite of everything

And a few pounds heavier, I am done with all that food!!!
all done

So, the next challenge to work towards is a massive omelet at this place near the school.  If I can eat it in 30 minutes, I will get 6 free meals!  Wish me luck.

Oh, and on another note, that burger was delicious…highly recommended!
